Itulah sebabnya mereka takut pergi ke luar rumah mencari nafkah. Terutama penduduk yang sering melewati sebuah padang luas yang bernama Padang Bende. Padang ini merupakan pusat lalu-lintas penduduk menuju ke kebun masing-masing. Sejak kehadiran burung garuda itu, padang ini menjadi sangat sepi, karena tidak seorang pun penduduk yang berani melewatinya.
Pada suatu hari, terdengarlah sebuah kabar bahwa di negeri Solumba (kini bernama Belandete) ada seorang cerdik pandai dan sakti yang bernama Larumbalangi. Ia memiliki sebilah keris dan selembar sarung pusaka yang dapat digunakan terbang. Maka diutuslah beberapa orang penduduk untuk menemui orang sakti itu di negeri Solumba. Agar tidak disambar burung garuda, mereka menyusuri hutan lebat dan menyelinap di balik pepohonan besar.
Sesampainya di negeri Solumba, utusan itu pun menceritakan peristiwa yang sedang menimpa negeri mereka kepada Larumbalangi Dan menjelaskan peristiwa yang telah terjadi pada larumbangi
